It's Valentine's Day...

Happy Valentine’s Day!

I love this holiday. It is the one day that most people try their hardest to be more loving and caring towards one another…lol. I say “try” because it is not so easy for some folks.

I was speaking to one of my little sisters today about not having that special someone, and as I was encouraging, her … God was speaking a word to me. We have to be so careful about the words we speak…especially to ourselves. The Bible says that the power of life and death is in the power of the tongue (Prov. 18:21). We have to keep reminding ourselves that God loves us, and if there is any fixing that needs to be done…He will do it. That means that we can rest, because we know that the One that created the plan is in control.

This holiday always makes me think about our ability to love, and to be loved. God’s mandate is that we love one another. I mean…I try. I know it is easy to love those who love you, but I want to learn how to love those I know don’t love me. I think most of the time I do pretty well, but every now and then…I know I fall way short.

So, below are a few scriptures that I use to help keep me focused:

Do to others as you would have them do to you.”  –Luke 6:31

I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”  -- Galatians 2:20

You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.”  -- Matthew 5:43-45

I pray that your heart will be comforted with the knowledge that you are loved by the Master, and that He showers you with so much love that you can’t help but share it with everyone you meet.

Until next time…

Be blessed
