Christ...the solid Rock

Greetings!

Today, I am feeling the old hymns. There is something about singing those old songs that is so comforting. I think for me it's because they remind me of my parents. We always had music or singing in our home. My mother sang when she was happy and she sang when she was sad. My father was on the men's choir at church, so I always heard him singing. I think that's why it's my "go to" when I'm going through. I get comfort from hearing those words. One of my favorite hymns is Christ the Solid Rock. The hymn says, "On Christ the solid rock I stand, all other ground is sinking sand." That is what I love about those old hymns...they speak truth. This song says that if you are hoping on anything other than God you are wasting your time.

Rock in the Bible is a symbol of strength. That is so fitting for our God. He is our strength. We can lean on Him and know that He can take the weight. He is not like man. He is not going to get tired. We can go to Him as many times as we need to and He will always be there. The Bible says in Psalms 27:5, "For in the day of trouble He shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. No matter what is going on...God will cover us and make sure that we are victorious.

We can't make it in this world without God. Whether we accept Him or not. The word says that He made the world and everything in it. That means that even if we never accept Him as Lord, He is still the One who wakes us up each day. That's how awesome God is...He will never force us to love Him and will keep loving us anyway.

Until next time...
Be blessed
