What a Love

Greetings!

Today, we celebrate Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King's birthday. Typically, I just use this time to catch up on some much needed sleep. This year though, my church is hosting a program in honor of Dr. King and his work. I actually debated on whether I should go or not. I mean, I could stay home in my pajamas and watch the service on my computer. But, I promised myself that this year I would be more present. Push myself out of my comfort zone. To do things differently. So, I pressed my way...and I was not disappointed. I am so glad I decided to go.

The church was packed. There were people there from several different churches. We even had 200 students from a local private school there to help us celebrate. We were all there to honor the life of one of the greatest civil rights leaders of our time. His life personified peace and love for all people. He dedicated his life to making a difference in the world. He didn't just talk about it...he did something about it. I admire not only his dedication to a cause he believed in, but also gave his life for...

I think of  what Dr. King did in comparison to what Jesus Christ did for us. They both had a similar goal...

Dr. King sacrificed his life for people he would never know...never get to meet. Jesus also sacrificed his life. He knew that we would need a Savior, so He willingly gave up His life for us.

Dr. King sacrificed time with his family to make sure that other families could live in a world free of prejudice and racial divide. Jesus knew we would never be able to get back to the Father without Him, so He paid the ultimate price with His life.

Dr. King sacrificed his peace to bring peace to the world. Jesus laid down His life for those He knew would betray Him in order that we all might live.

What a love.

Until next time...

Be blessed
